The 4-Stage Precision Restring Protocol
A fresh set of guitar strings transforms acoustic projection, tuning stability, and tactile playability. At The Complete Guitar workshop in Dundee, restringing is never treated as a rushed swap. Every £35 Precision Restring service follows a dedicated 4-stage process:
De-Tensioning & Hardware Inspection
Old strings are safely removed, tuner bushings tightened, strap buttons secured, and the bridge saddles inspected for burrs that cause premature string breakage.
Phase 1 Cleanse (Clarity Wash)
The bare fretboard and headstock are treated with Clarity Wash — our deionised, silicone-free cleanser that lifts finger sweat, oils, and playing grime without clouding delicate nitrocellulose or poly lacquers.
Phase 2 Hydration (Resonance Balm)
Unfinished dark tonewoods (Rosewood, Ebony, Pau Ferro) receive a deep nourishment pass of Resonance Balm. Cold-pressed Jojoba and Sweet Almond oils penetrate deep into open wood pores to prevent seasonal shrinkage and fret sprout. Read why commercial lemon oil isn't safe for your fretboard.
Clean Restring, Pre-Stretch & Calibration
New strings (Ernie Ball, D'Addario, or Elixir) are installed cleanly, mechanically pre-stretched to minimise settling slack, nut slots lubricated, and calibrated to concert pitch using LuthierScan Pro.*Note: Because instruments naturally settle in transit and adjust to different room temperatures and humidity levels, minor fine-tuning by the player may still be needed when you unpack.
